She’s also an animal life coach, an Extreme Tantric Sex instructor, an certified tax intuitive, a licensed colon cleaner and fecologist, and the world’s leading expert on maple enemas. Serenity Hawkfire is a narcissistic New Age guru with an ego the size of Chicago … and she’s on her ‘Humble Guru Tour’ across America, determined to save souls with her Beyond Being Workshop.
“Dr. Serenity Hawkfire’s Beyond Being Workshop” is the perfect parody of a New Age workshop. It’s Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding meets New Age — a completely hilarious evening of very interactive theater that freely mixes scripted material with improv.
Audience members are welcomed into Serenity Beyond Being Workshop by registering on clipboards and learning ‘The Serenity Salute.’ Then the fun begins as Serenity receives a message from God (a close personal friend) that a producer of the ‘Good Day Ahead’ network TV show may be in the audience … so she attempts to wow him. Eventually the entire workshop goes to hell as Serenity loses it amidst more and more outlandish moments of New Age hilarity.
Along the way, real audience members and actor-plants are ‘worked on’ by Serenity through various techniques including ‘The Silencer’ (duct tape across the mouth) and Serenity’s infamous ‘Healing Wa Wa Dance.’ Serenity also helps audience members assess their ‘financial chi’ and learn basics of Extreme Tantric Sex (an odd mashup of yoga and ‘cleansing breath’, demonstrated by rag dolls.) We also get to see what happens when Serenity encounters a stray Big Mac after years on her indigenous prairie grass diet.
Serenity’s philosophy is delivered via original, quirky songs played on acoustic guitar including ‘The Ballad of the Codependent Guru’ and ‘You’ll Be Better When You’re Dead.’
Currently booked in 2008 Orlano Fringe, Cap Fringe (Washington D.C.), Vancouver Fringe and possibly Toronto Fringe Festivals.

Length: 1 - 55 minute act
Performance area (size flexible); access staircase into audience if necessary; sound system (actor will provide lav mic if needed; technician to run one simple sound cue from provided CD or MP3 player. Serenity can provide pop in pick up for acoustic guitar if needed. No lighting cues except for black out at end (house lights throughout). 2 actor-plants for audience can be supplied by Serenity or provided by theater. Those provided by theater will need to meet with Serenity one hour prior to the show for brief rehearsal. Staff member needed to ‘Register’ and serve tea (optional) beforehand. Basic advertising and promotional materials are available and can be supplied upon request.
